Whitney Houston is reportedly set to launch her comeback with a stint on The X Factor.

The Daily Mirror claims that the 46-year-old singer will become the first big name star to appear on the new series of the hit ITV talent show.

Houston will perform a song from her new album in October, and will even host a singing masterclass for finalists according to reports.

An X Factor insider revealed to the Daily Mirror that: "Simon Cowell is cock-a-hoop".

Since the public breakdown of Susan Boyle,  producers of The X Factor are to introduce vigorous psychological testing on future contestants.

Performers' union Equity recently accused TV talent shows of exploiting their contestants by not paying them for their time or work.
