Due to unpredictable, extreme weather conditions in the United Kingdom, more and more houses are now prone to flooding.
Having the right home insurance isn’t enough to keep yourself, your family, and your possession safe. Everybody needs to know what to do before, during, and after the flood to minimise damage.
Make plans even before the flood hit your house. Have an emergency kit which includes medicines, clothing, enough food, bottled water, and supplies needed by young children and babies.
Put appliances and furniture as high as possible from the ground. Also, note emergency numbers that you can call and the possible evacuation centers to go to just in case you need it. Tune in to radio station for updates.
During the flood, it’s important that you keep calm. Keep in mind that everyone’s safety is top priority. If possible, turn off water, gas, and electricity. Evacuate property as soon as possible. Don’t forget to check in on pets and vulnerable neighbors before leaving.
