Heartthrob actor Nigel Harman has announced that he will be leaving the show after over two years on the cast.
The housewife's favourite, who plays the son of Dirty Den, has won best actor and sexiest male awards during his run on the soap.
Bad-boy character Dennis has had his fair share of juicy plotlines, having been involved in gangster, murder, and adultery storylines, before finally settling down with his adopted sister.
Harman explained to Heat magazine that there was "nothing left" for him to do, and that now was the right time to leave the show.
"Sharon and Dennis have had such a great run, but what would you do with them next? I could pretty much guarantee we've already done it," he said.
"It was something that was talked about over a period of time between myself and the producers.
"It wasn't a 'chuck all your toys out of the pram' thing. We all came to a mutual decision."
When quizzed about his next step, the hunk admitted he was clueless, but was full of excitement.
"I've got mixed emotions about it all. I'm excited, nervous and sad. EastEnders has been such a big part of my life," he added.
"I have no idea what's next. Maybe I'll open up a hardware shop in Cockfosters."
He is expected to film his final scenes in November.
