Grant Mitchell's return to Albert Square sees him back to his bullying best, according to Ross Kemp who plays the bald thug.
And apparently this flies in the face of what Kemp had been led to expect by EastEnders bosses.
"The producers told me Grant is a changed man," Kemp said.
"But they soon had me going round beating up nearly everybody - even threatening to break a 12-year-old's arm."
Grant, his brother Phil, played by Steve McFadden, and mum Peggy, played by Barbara Windsor, have all flooded back on to the Walford soap in a wave of bitchiness, thuggery and revenge.
First they have to get their sister Sam, played by Kim Medcalf, off the hook for the murder of Dirty Den, which she didn't do.
And then the Mitchell clan become engaged in a sordid low-life battle with supposed gangster Johnny Allen over the notoriously grotty Queen Vic.
It's always amazed us how much angst can be caused on the Square over the ownership of a few dingy establishments like the pub and the chippy, but the evergreen plotline shows no signs of losing its appeal for the EastEnders producers.
