Football-star Paul Gascoigne has been told that he could face jail after admitting that he was four times over the drink-drive limit.

The 43-year-old was given an immediate driving ban and told he could be sent down for up to three months.

He is due to stand trial next month for alleged drink-driving incident back in February.

District Judge Stephen Earl was told that Gazza had 142mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath when he was stopped in Newcastle on 8 October.

The legal limit is 35mg.

Judge Earl warned the former England midfielder that: “All options, including custody based on 12 weeks, would be appropriate to consider.”

Gascoigne is due to also go on trial on 3 November on a separate drink-drive charge at Northallerton MagistratesÂ’ Court in North Yorkshire.
