The latest washing machine reinvention promises to clean your clothes just as well as a regular wash, without resorting to any chemicals. Instead it uses nuts!

It uses natural soapnut seeds that have been used in Asia for hundreds of years and is healthier to the environment when the waste gets washed away down our pipes. These can be cultivated anywhere in the world, cutting down on transport pollution.

They're apparently good for those with allergies and are gentle on clothes. A 500g pack costs 7 in the UK and works reasonably well in conventional machines but the E-wash ensures the nuts are added at the right time and washes any nut fragments away.
