Britain has been allowed to continue to use imperial measurements including the pint, the mile and ounces. The decision overturns a 2009 deadline which called on British sellers to convert the measurements.
If the decision hadn't ruled in favour, then beer and milk would be sold by the litre, and miles would have become kilometres. Minister for Europe Caroline Flint called the vote "a victory for common sense" suggesting that changing all of the labels during the economic meltdown would have been extremely difficult.
It's a fact that we live in a world where traditions are in danger of dying out and although this small victory to keep our measurements is safe and sound, there are many British traditions that our great grandchildren may never see.
