4. Tai Chi
While not strictly a fighting skill, tai chi teaches the control of energy and balance through sluggish movements. Rooted in the Taoist philosophy, which came to be 2,600 years ago, its goal is for the practitioner to achieve the yin-yang - the supreme ultimate force.
It facilitates the flow of the chi, the vital life force, through the body. It can also be used in combat. The idea is not to resist or dodge punches but rather to focus one's energy into the anatomical limbs used in the fighting.
