She was the favourite to win the show but in a shock turnaround of events the powerful singer from Bolton was kicked off the talent show after finding herself in the bottom two with Spanish senorita Ruth Lorenzo.

Laura received three out of four judges votes, with Louis Walsh's being the decider. Simon Cowell said: "You were not the worst two singers tonight so I don't know what went wrong. Both of you sung your hearts out just then. I like both girls."
