Madonna toured consistently throughout the decade and earned herself the title as the most successful touring artist of all time as well as the most successful female and solo recording artist of all time. In short, her influence has lasted and carried on, and still shows no sign of slowing down.
As well as retaining her sex symbol status, Madonna also found time to marry and divorce film director Guy Ritchie, and bag new toyboy Jesuz Luz, before attracting international publicity for her (eventually successful) attempts to adopt a Malawian orphan.
