VanWyngarden has the ability to ridicule the rock'n'roll lifestyle yet helplessly live out the dream in his music, which has been described as "shape-shifting psychedelic pop."

As one half of the Brooklyn based band, the rockers' debut album 'Oracular Spectacular' reached No 12 in UK charts. Their popularity grew rapidly after supporting Radiohead on their summer 2008 tour of 'In Rainbows'.
