'Transfomers' may not be a fantastic film but one thing it did get right was its approach to the aliens - jarringly mechanical, they had all of the fluid lurches of a biting snake but were also balanced by weighty, metallic components.

The good and the bad guys offer a glimpse of how technology could go too far and what the new face of evil would look like.
