The new 'Star Trek' film chronicles the early days of the Enterprise crew and is due for release on May 8

Chris Pine dropped out of a role in his upcoming adaptation of James Ellroy's 'White Jazz' starring alongside George Clooney so that he could play Kirk.

The movie will show the crew meeting at the Starfleet Academy and embarking on their first mission.
