"When I first started messing around I didn't see it as a way of staving off the years, I saw plastic surgery totally as a way of using flesh as fabric to create something" Burns said. "I was bored looking in the mirror at the same face, at the same skin, at the same thing and I used to think "you know what I have got 75 years of looking at the same thing, so let's fiddle around."
Maybe he didn't fully think that idea through?
