If it wasn't for NASA inspirational technology, some of our most popular everyday items would never have made that giant leap into our society.

It may be taken for granted now, but without the space programme we wouldn't have the satellites in orbit around the earth which revolutionised the communications industry. We also have them to thank for mobile phones.
