They say that riding a bike is a skill you never forget, but what they don't mention is the scraped knees and falls you endure as a child to master this lifelong talent. After the stabilisers are removed, a parent can do all but run behind, wait and hope that their child will stay upright. However, a new product is set to change that.
Using gyroscopic technology, when turned on, the Gyrowheel senses when the rider is about to tipple over and re-centres it keeping the bike from falling. The rechargeable Gyrowheel replaces a bike's ordinary front wheel for a tumble free ride and helps foster good riding technique. There are three intensity settings so parents can reduce the help a child needs as their confidence and abilities grow.
The Gyrowheel is on sale in America from December and in the UK before the end of 2010. For more information, visit www.thegyrobike.com.
