Chicken soup
What's it good for? Relieving colds
There's some truth in the traditional advice of being brought soup when you're feeling under the weather, as you need lots of fluid to thin the mucus that's making you feel stuffed up.
Most of the common symptoms of respiratory infections are due to the production of white blood cells called neurophils that increase mucus levels. Chicken soup inhibits this production, therefore decreasing the mucus build-up.
