When the Soviet Union disintegrated many small Russian cities declined into ruin and destitution as their residents were forced to move away for their running water, education and medicinal needs.

The city (once a tin mining town of 12,000 residents) was evacuated over two weeks but in their rush to leave, they abandoned many of their belongings – many of these macabre remnants such as children's toys are still exactly where left them.
