The blue-booted Libyan international, former vice-chairman of the Libyan FA and son of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi was banned for three months in January 2004 after testing positive for nandrolone. He claimed a doctor had given it to him to combat back pain. Since serving his ban he has gone on to play for Perugia in Serie A.
