An eccentric, textbook-tearing teacher asks his students to stand on their desks and look at the world from a different perspective. His students, including Ethan Hawke and Robert Sean Leonard, are inspired to 'seize the day', to live boldly. The boys find their voice through poetry and literature - but it all ends in tragedy.
