Sir Alf Ramsey's reign as England manager came to an inglorious end as the Three Lions could only draw 1-1 with Poland in a game they needed to win. The Polish goalkeeper Jan Tomaszewski, famously derided as a "clown" by Brian Clough prior to the game, played a blinder making a number of unbelievable saves.
