While this is the film that was responsible for a wave of terrible 'fat suit' comedies, 'The Nutty Professor' was the underrated gem that actually got it right. Impressively, Murphy plays almost every main character in the film.

Instead of just showboating, it's his character's overlooked likeability and soft touch that makes the professor (and the film itself) such a watchable and enduring comedy.
