Ginger Spice's management firm confirmed that the couple, who got engaged over Christmas 2008, were to tie the knot. They released a statement saying: "We are delighted to announce the engagement of Geri Halliwell and Fabrizio Politi."

But it wasn't meant to be and the couple split. Early in April 2009, Politi said: "I had been looking for a beautiful woman to settle down with and start a family, and I thought in Geri I had finally found that person."
