When Winona can't sleep she picks up the phone and calls her old pal Al Pacino, a fellow insomnia sufferer. Her insomnia stems from aquaphobia due to a trauma she received when she nearly drowned at the age of 12. In 1991, she voluntarily spent five days in a psychiatric hospital for what was then described as "sleep deprivation."
