Extreme cases are known as having intermittent explosive disorder (IED) which account for those who are prone to road rage, domestic abuse, tantrums and breaking objects.

Roughly 8% of adults suffer from IED, but the doctors at the Chicago University are working on using divalproex sodium, a drug commonly used for bipolar disorder and epilepsy. They are confident of its success but so far no results have been forthcoming.
