Pongful arrest
Angry police officers say they are being forced to make "ludicrous" arrests to meet government targets. In 2002, cops kicked up a stink when a cheeky prankster passed wind in a police officer's face. 40-year-old software engineer Chris Clarke was hauled before magistrates and fined £500 for the dastardly deed.
After sinking a few pints, Clarke and a pal made a flippant remark to a passing policeman. When the officer threatened to arrest the pair, Clarke broke wind in the bobby's face. Chris, who lives in Richmond, Surrey, said of the arrest: "It was ridiculous."
But this is just one of many bizarre arrests that have been carried out on Britain's streets over the past few years. Check out these crazy crimes that shocked the nation.
