2007's top worry was personal health, but the following year saw the public's woes move away from their physical condition and seriously contemplate their finances. 2008 saw a yoyo approach to cost of living prices, with food, energy, house prices and other bills become increasingly hard to work out.
Sir Alan Sugar offered his advice to coming out clean on the other side by stating that we should always buy the cheapest petrol even it means going out of your way, as this forces competition to lower their prices. The same is true for the majority of consumer products.
