Cheese rolling
When: 28 May
Where: Cooper's Hill, near Gloucester
The world famous cheese rolling event returns with a bang this bank holiday weekend. On Monday, hundreds of maniacs (many in fancy dress) will flock to the westcountry to chase a big block of cheese down a lofty embankment.
So if you're sick of staying in and watching the same old boring films on the telly, join the other brave (or foolhardy) folk and bounce your body down the steep slope. But be warned, cheese rolling is not for the fainthearted. There is bound to be the usual crop of sprains and strains, but nothing serious enough to keep you out of the pub for a well earned Scrumpy afterwards.
However, for all you eccentrics out there who don't do pain, here are some other wacky events that take place in Britain each year.
