The charity single first aired in 1984, but it was the 2004 vesion that was most loved according to the Offical Charts Company. The seasonal song spent four weeks at No. 1 and sold a total of 1.1 million copies.
A full cast of popular artisits contributed to the cause, including key acts: U2's Bono, Robbie Williams, Snow Patrol, Sugababes, Busted, Beverley Knight, Lemar, Katie Melua and Will Young. The 80s original was in the top 20 at No18.
Other popular hits included Slade's 1973 hit 'Merry Christmas Everybody', ranked at No13, and the equally catchy 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday' from the smae year by Wizard, which was placed at No 16.
