Liam Gallagher swaggered onto the stage to pick up the special award for Oasis' second album, only to throw his microphone and the award at the audience. In his brief acceptance speech, he thanked his fellow band members (except for his brother Noel, who, tellingly, wrote of all the songs on the album) and the band's fans.
His speech was short but not sweet: "Listen kids. I want to thank Bonehead, Guigsy and Alan White. The best band in the f***ing world. Live forever." After Gallagher exited the stage, host Peter Kay summed up his contribution with the biting "What a k***head".
But Gallagher wasn't done there... Backstage, he was interviewed (by his wife Nicole Appleton no less) whereby he blathered incoherently and capped off his tirade with "Come on let's all go and take some Class A drugs."
The winners:Oasis bagged the aforementioned award for the best 'Album of the Last 30 Years' for '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?', while Lady Gaga won all of the awards she was nominated for, including International Album, International Breakthrough Act and International Female Solo Artist.
