A 23-year-old Indian bride swapped her groom for a wedding guest after her fiancé had an epileptic seizure at the ceremony. Reports said that that bride was furious she wasn’t told about the condition.
25-year-old Jugal Kishore fell to the ground during the traditional exchange of “varmala” flower garlands in the northern town of Rumpur.
His soon-to-be-wife, who was shocked with his illness, quickly chose a wedding guest, Harpal Singh, her sister’s brother-in-law, to replace him. After he accepted, the ceremony continued as planned until Kishore came back from the hospital understandably surprised by his one-time fiancé’s decision.
Unable to change her mind, Kishore and his family resorted to violence. Two people were arrested after the incident.
Kishore then filed a complaint at the local Milak police station but withdrew it after older relatives intervene.
RP Solanki, an official at the station, said: “Both families have amicably resolved the matter.
“The complaints have been withdrawn. Kishore and his family have now returned in peace to Moradabad.”
