Emergency services attended a fire at an Islamic school in London at the weekend. The blaze happened at the Darul Uloom school, in Chislehurst, on Saturday 8th June.
Pupils and staff members were evacuated from the building, which is situated on Foxbury Avenue in South East London.
The City’s Fire Service attended the scene. Reportedly, two people were treated over smoke inhalation.
It is believed there was minor damage caused to the building and that it re-opened the next day.
Following the fire at the Islamic school four teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of arson, the Metropolitan police have said.
The teens – two 17-year-olds and two 18-year-olds – were arrested on Sunday, 9th June.
The news comes after there was a fire at an Islamic centre in London last week. This relates to the centre in Muswell Hill, London. The building had graffiti on it - the letters EDL.
Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, Metropolitan Police commissioner, said: “These are difficult times for London's communities.”
Adding: “So I want to reassure people that we are using our full range of policing tactics to protect sites that might be vulnerable.
“In all boroughs across London, there is an increased police presence around locations that might be at risk.”
