Michael Moore's critique of the Bush administration looks set to become the most successful documentary ever released on DVD and video.
On the first day of its American release copies Fahrenheit 9/11 flew from shelves around the country almost before they arrived.
The documentary, which attacks the Bush administration's policies, has sold around two million copies in the first 24 hours of its release in the run up to November's presidential elections.
It appears that, despite a luke-warm reception from the press when it was released in cinemas, the American public's interest in the film has not waned since it broke box office records for a documentary.
Meanwhile, Mr Moore himself is currently being threatened with prosecution after he has been offering joke prizes to students and "slackers" to get them to vote.
Republicans have not been amused by the film maker's promise to give away prizes such as clean underwear and noodles to people if they vote at the next elections and have threatened him with court action.
