George Osborne has delivered his Autumn Statement saying that the country’s economy is in good shape and that growth forecasts for this year had more than doubled from 0.6per cent to 1.4per cent.
Mr Osborne boasts that his policies have helped UK’s economy to fast track its recovery but not everybody is convinced.
Shadow chancellor Ed Balls said: "For all his complacent boasts, for three damaging and wasted years, for most people there is no recovery at all.”
The Autumn Statement revealed planned budget cuts of £1bn of government departments each for the next three years. There is also a plan to spend £375bn on energy, transport, communications, and water projects.
Mr Osborne, despite saying that the UK’s economy is growing faster than any major economy, has said that the job is not yet done.
"The hard work of the British people is paying off and we will not squander their efforts."
"The plan is working - it is a long-term plan for a grown-up country. The job is not yet done but Britain is moving again - let's keep going."
