The stars of Albert Square have no idea which way plotlines will be going come the Christmas soap season.

Punters and actors alike will be left in the dark as to what happens to argumentative lovers Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) and Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace).

And the future marital bliss of Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Dennis Rickman (Nigel Harman) will also be left up in the air.

Bosses on the Walford soap are giving stars censored scripts and only letting them see the scenes they're working on.

An EastEnders mole told the Sun: "Producers want it to be Fort Knox at Elstree. The scripts are blacked out."

And according to a spokesman for BBC1, alternate "happy and sad endings" have been filmed for the climaxes of the Christmas storylines.

He added: "We'll make up our mind which versions to show at the last minute."
