Soap spoiler alert! The truth is finally exposed about Christian's love affair with newly married Syed Masood.
Prompted by a mysterious message painted on the wall of their flat reading "Syed loves Christian", wife Amira demands to know who would write such a thing.
Upon her insistence, Christian arrives and admits the truth – they've been sleeping together for months. A hysterical Amira pleads with Syed about the importance of not breaking their wedding vows, when Christian reminds her about the health of her baby.
Syed reassures her that he loves her dearly but admits that is indeed gay and his parents know. Grief stricken Amira flees.
At the party tensions fly as Christian arrives. The Masoods order him to leave but Christian insists he's going nowhere.
Pushed to the limit, Amira reveals to the party (including her father) that there is no baby before dropping the bombshell that Syed is gay. Embarrassed Zainab tries to cover for her son, but Syed finally admits the truth and confirms that he has been cheating on his wife with Christian for months.
Feeling betrayed and humiliated Amira decides to leave the square, but after her parting words to friend Chelsea, could she be pregnant after all?
The Masoods, a strictly Muslim family, publically reject Christian and Masood orders Zainab to turn her back on her son – a decision she finds impossible.
Meanwhile, furious father-in-law Qadim turns up with two right-hand men to get justice for his daughter – but Syed is nowhere to be found.
However, Christian is still at the Square and soon Qadim changes the aim of his aggression. As part of one of the most controversial EastEnders storylines, Syed's father-in-law gets his revenge with the help of his two henchmen. Christian is beaten to a pulp and left in a pool of blood on the floor.
