Elton John will marry partner David Furnish in the New Year, his publicist has revealed.
The flamboyant star had said yesterday (25.04.05) he was planning to tie the knot with his Canadian partner of 11 years in December.
The civil partnership ceremony is reportedly to take place in Windsor, where Britain's Prince Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles earlier this month.
However, the singer's spokesman, Gary Farrow, has now said it is more likely to be early next year, a few weeks after new laws recognizing homosexual partnerships come into effect in the UK.
Farrow admitted: "A date and a venue have not been set, so it may not be until next year."
The flamboyant singer, 58, has long spoken about his desire to marry film producer David, 42, but always insisted he would only go ahead when British law was changed so his partner would get the same marital rights as heterosexual couples.
Under the new law, lesbian and gay couples will receive the same tax, pension, and inheritance status and benefits as traditional couples.
