New app aims to curb drunken impulse purchases.

Financial consultants iBE TSE has designed a mobile payment system that aims to curb drunken impulse purchases. DrnkPay connects to your credit card and stops you from making regrettable purchases while drunk.

 

Here how it works: users have to specify how much drinks they plan to have before a night out. After each drink purchase, users blow into a breathalyzer to measure the alcohol diffusion through the skin. The app will then provide users a scorecard helping them figure out just how drunk they are.

 

CEO Francesco Scarnera explains: Once you’ve hit your self-imposed limit, the app will lock your card and prevent you making further payments. It’s up to you whether to block all payments, or just certain ‘weak points’, such as takeaways, clubs, or that flight that seems like such a great idea at 4am.
