DiCaprio faces surgery after bottle attack

Leonardo DiCaprio is facing plastic surgery after a crazed woman slashed his face with a bottle.

The Hollywood heartthrob narrowly escaped death in the attack at a party after the jagged glass just missed his jugular.

The 'Titanic' star has been told by doctors he could be left with scarring and will need to have corrective surgery.

The 30-year-old screen hunk was at a celebrity-studded bash thrown by Paris Hilton's ex lover, Rick Salomon, when the woman, who was reportedly looking for her ex boyfriend, "smashed his face in" with a beer bottle.

DiCaprio was rushed to hospital where he had 12 stitches to the gash near his ear.

He is now said to be recovering in hospital where his girlfriend, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, has been keeping a bedside vigil.

A Hollywood source said: "Leo's really shaken up about this. His face is his fortune and it would be devastating for him to be left with an ugly scar.

"He realises how fortunate he has been not to have been even more badly hurt."

Police are now investigating the frenzied attack.
