Johnny Depp is taking singing lessons from girlfriend Vanessa Paradis to prepare for his new film role.
The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor - who had to pass a singing test to win a part in musical 'Sweeney Todd' - has been rehearsing with Vanessa at their family home.
The film's bosses have reportedly allowed Vanessa - who enjoyed a successful pop career in the 80s - to take charge of Johnny's vocal coaching so that he wouldn't have to leave his family in France to have singing lessons in Los Angeles.
A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Vanessa is training him in the studio at their converted barn."
Johnny - who has reunited with 'Edward Scissorhands' director Tim Burton for the musical - will play demonic hairdresser Sweeney Todd, who butchers his customers and uses their remains as pie fillings.
