David Miliband set for charity work in America
The Labour politician will quit his post to work for a US charity, it has emerged

David Miliband is to quit as an MP and move to the US in order to work for the charity International Rescue Committee (IRC) it has come to light on Wednesday, 27thMarch. The former Foreign Secretary will move to New York.
The Labour politician, who has been an MP for South Shields for over a decade, will reportedly become the Chief of the organisation.
It is understood that in a letter to his party Chair, David Miliband explained it wasn’t an easy decision to make when considering the move overseas. He will leave behind British politics in order to fulfil his role, but it is presumed he hopes Labour will be successful.
The news comes several years after the political competition with his brother, Ed Miliband, where 47-year-old David Miliband narrowly missed a win. Reportedly, it is thought David Miliband approves of his brother’s work so far.
Based on reports, Ed Miliband has commented that without his brother the political world in the UK will be a “poorer place”.
Ed Miliband said in a statement, as reported by the BBC: “Having spoken to him a lot over the past few months, I know how long and hard he thought about this before deciding to take up the offer. I also know how enthusiastic he is about the potential this job provides.”
Adding: “We went through a difficult leadership contest but time has helped to heal that. I will miss him. But although he is moving to America, I know he will always be there to offer support and advice when I need it.”
David Miliband’s decision to go to the US is expected to result in a by-election in South Shields.
