The men behind cult comedies 'The League of Gentleman' and 'Coupling' are set to join the team working on a new series of Doctor Who.
Steven Moffatt ('Coupling') and Mark Gatiss ('The League of Gentlemen') will join a writing team headed up by Russell Davies, who was behind programmes like 'Queer as Folk' and 'Bob and Rose'.
Filming on the latest instalment of the cult sci-fi franchise starts in Cardiff this spring - the series will be screened on BBC One in 2005.
Davies commented: 'I really believe we've got the best people in the business now working on the best show.
'The Doctor and Rose [the latest sidekick] already have the best allies on their journey - brilliant writers with brilliant scripts.'
'It's an honour to work with these people who are so talented; they shouldn't be allowed to travel together.'
Other writers involved in the project include Rob Shearman, author of three 'Big Finish' Doctor Who stories, and Paul Cornell, who wrote several original Doctor Who novels and two Doctor Who series.
Doctor Who was first broadcast on November 23rd, 1963; the series was dropped in 1989 despite high viewing figures.
