Corrie's Samia desperate for Street wedding

'Coronation Street' beauty Samia Smith is desperate for her character to tie the knot in a lavish soap wedding.

The stunning actress, who plays sexy hairdresser Maria, admits she would love to get hitched in a memorable 'Street' wedding but doesn't think it will happen in the near future.

Samia - who married property developer Matthew Smith, 29, in September - said: "I'd love to be part of a big Corrie wedding. It would be fantastic but I just can't see it happening to Maria - for now. It would probably take less planning than my own big day - knowing Maria she'd probably have a rushed job in Gretna Green."

However, Samia isn't sure her character should wed long-term boyfriend Tyrone.

The hair stylist has had an on/off relationship with the hapless mechanic for years - dating 'Street' hunk Nick Tilsley twice in-between - but the actress isn't convinced he is 'the one' for Maria.

She is quoted in Britain's Daily Star newspaper as saying: "I believe Maria does love Tyrone but whether she is in love with him, I just don't know. "She's been with so many different guys and she's always ended up back with Tyrone. So maybe he is the one for her."
