The scent of the world’s smelliest plant, the infamous Titan arum, which unique scent has been compared to dead rat, has been officially bottled as a new fragrance for men.
The launching of the perfume aims to draw attention to the rare plant and the people behind the project hope that it will take the world of designer fragrances in “a bold, completely new direction.”
An Eden spokesman said: “With Eau de Titan we are boldly going where no perfumer has gone before by creating a unique essence from something so pungent.
“By doing so, we are not only challenging men to wear the most heady fragrance imaginable but we are also telling the story of this rare and fascinating plant.”
He added: “The distinctive odour attracts insects brilliantly so it stands to reason it should work on people too.”
The Titan arum is a rare plant from Sumatra, Indonesia. Although it has a reputation of being extremely difficult to cultivate, Eden’s resident expert Tim Grigg has succeeded in growing 21 in its Rainforest Biome in the last 15 years.
