Burglar at Steve Jobs’ Palo Alto house arrested

Several computers and other items worth £38,000 were stolen when a burglar broke into Apple boss Steve Jobs’ house in Palo Alto. 

 

The burglar, identified as KariemMcFarlin, was arrested on August 2 and found guilty of the burglary. He was also charged for selling the items he stole from the house. 

 

According to police in Palo Alto, McFarlin probably did not initially realize that the home he was stealing from once belonged to Apple founder Steve Jobs, who died last year at age 56. Police also reported a rise in burglaries in the area this year. 

 

According to Santa Clara County deputy district attorney Scott Tsui, the suspect must have ‘eventually realized whose house he was in’, but that ‘it was just another house’ from the outside. 

 

Police officials say that the suspect targeted the house last July 17 because it was being renovated during that time and therefore did not look very secure. 

 

Mr. Tsui said that they were not aware that anything special was taken by the burglar, but that the computers are likely to be Apple products, considering who the late owner of the house was. 

 

If convicted of the crime, McFarlin will face up to eight years in prison.
