Bridget Jones has a battle on her hands to hold onto the top spot in the UK box office with the release of a number of potential blockbusters this week.
Fans flocked to the cinema at the weekend sending Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, which stars Renee Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth, to the top of the charts.
But this weekend the very English thirtysomething will have to compete with Denzel Washington's The Manchurian Candidate, After the Sunset starring Pierce Brosnan and animated sensation, The Incredibles, which features the voices of Samuel L Jackson and Holly Hunter.
The Incredibles tells the story of a retired family of superheroes forced to don their spandex suits once more to battle a dastardly villain. The latest offering from Pixar has already taken the US by storm pulling in $70 million (38 million) in its opening weekend to top the box office on the over side of the Atlantic.
The Manchurian Candidate meanwhile, is a remake of a classic espionage thriller that originally starred Frank Sinatra.
After the Sunset sees Pierce Brosnan playing a renowned jewel thief sunning himself in a tropical paradise with his girlfriend (Salma Hayek) until a determined FBI agent (Woody Harrelson) tracks him down.
