As Breaking Bad comes to an end, its creator, Vince Gilligan will team up with David Shore, the writer of House, to create a new detective drama called Battle Creek. This is Gilligan’s second project after Breaking Bad. He is currently working on a spin-off series Better Call Saul.
Gilligan initially developed Battle Creek in 2002 however, it was Breaking Bad that earned him much more recognition. Battle Creek, the 13-part series is expected to be broadcasted in 2014. This follows the story of two detectives in Michigan town who do not share the same views when it comes to enforcing the law; the one wants to do it by the book while the other prefers to enforce the law through whatever means necessary.
Sony TV and CBS TV studios will make the show while Gilligan reportedly showed interest in directing it.
Breaking Bad was named best drama series at the Emmy’s on Sunday. Anna Gunn, who plays Walter White’s wife Skyler, was named best supporting actress. Its final episode will air in the US on Sunday and on Monday, it will be available in the UK via Netflix.
