Bob Dylan portraits to go on display in UK

US singer Bob Dylan will exhibit his portraits at the National Portrait Gallery later this month.

The National Portrait Gallery in London will host the first UK exhibition of Bob Dylan’s 12 new portraits, which are a mix of fictitious and real characters, later this month.

The art works featured in the exhibition which is entitled Bob Dylan: Face Value, have been described by art historian John Elderfield as “products of the same extraordinary, inventive imagination.”

Bob Dylan, who decided to start exhibiting his art work only six years ago, has been painting since the late 60’s. This is the first time that his work will be on display in a British Museum.

 

Sandy Nairne, Director of the National Portrait Gallery, London, said: "Bob Dylan is one of the most influential cultural figures of our time. He has always created a highly visual world either with his words or music, or in paints and pastels.

"I am delighted that we can now share these 12 sketches which were made for display at the National Portrait Gallery."
