“Blood rain” predicted to fall in UK this Halloween

No costume is expected to be scarier than what the UK’s weather is set to offer this Halloween. Weather forecasters have predicted showers of “blood rain” that could be the cause of fear for kids (and even adults) who are trick or treating.

 

This is a bizarre phenomenon brought on by unseasonably mild weather in the UK, coupled with Saharan winds that are expected to bring temperatures well over 20C. The warm fronts are expected to carry huge amounts of red Saharan sand, which will most likely fall in liquid droplets as the warm spells turn to rain. 

 

The Met Office spokeswoman said: “Where there has been rain in the southeast there has been red dust brought down with it. When the rain dries off it leaves a red residue.”

 

Before “blood rain” week, the UK can reportedly expect great weather; with bright skies and warm conditions that compliments the Autumnal display of oranges and browns. 

 

Meteogroup forecaster Brendan Jones told The Independent: “The warm weather is being brought in on a wind from France and it has been 25C (77F) to 26C (79F) there this weekend.

 

“Some of that warm air is going to try to cross the Channel on Monday and Tuesday, but it is going to struggle to get further than the South East.

 

“If the sun comes out we could see an extension of the Indian summer that is being seen on the Continent.”
