Michael McIntyre has quit Britain's Got Talent after just one series.
The stand-up comedian, who joined the talent programme less than a year ago, had served as a judge on the ITV1 show. He and fellow new judge David Hasselhoff replaced Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan on the judging panel.
The news of the comic's departure has been confirmed by ITV who issued a statement saying:
"We wish him all the best and look forward to working with him again."
McIntyre has also reportedly told The Sun:
"I absolutely loved being a judge but have been itching to get back on stage myself. I wish the show and production team every success."
The Comedy Roadshow host joined Britain's Got Talent late in 2010 and had been rumoured to have signed on to stay on the show.
It has also been widely reported that David Hasselhoff had been fired from the show after not living up to expectations; however this was later denied by Simon Cowell.
Amanda Holden remains the only original full-time judge on the programme.
